Naomi Campbell takes LFW by storm

The collection: Why is it after so many years on the catwalk Naomi Campbell still has the best legs in the business? Opening designer Daniella Issa Helayel’s Sunday evening show to thunderous applause, Campbell oozed style in a white sequined swimsuit. Issa describes her work as ‘practical, fluid and chic’, and with a tropical storm themed show – covering everything from sexy shorts and satin blouses, to cool trousers and her signature white ant festooned T-shirts – her collection was just that.
The wish list:
I loved the stormy gun-metal, off-the-shoulder, one-arm dress that fell to just above the knee.
The style:
Daisy Lowe stole the show with her short black sexy dress and fab YSL killer hills.

LFW Day 2: PPQ/Adidas

Location: The Red Bull Fashion Factory
Joanne Black style: Alexander Wang LBD A/W 08; Sergio Rossi ankle heals S/S 08; YSL Tux Jacket A/W 08 and Wolford leggings.
The collection: Everything about the PPA/Adidas collection was sexy, cool and ultra-stylish – including its rather glamourous front row, consisting of everyone from Fearne Cotton and Peaches Geldof to Alexa Chung. Sipping mojito cocktails, we were treated to a show filled with sheath and striped knit dresses, big picture hats, bright colours, capri green trousers and lots of Adidas trainers. This was a show dedicated to effortless style – put a great pair of trainers and a sexy dress together and you won’t go wrong.
The wish list: I long to be dressed in the show’s LBD with ruffles – teamed with cool black Adidas trainers of course. As a front row guest I was lucky enough to be treated to a fab PPQ bag, however, so that will me going for now!
The style:
Fearne Cotton looked great in gold and Peaches Geldolf wore a permanent smile as she was engulfed by photographers; but it was my friend Helen who takes the style prize for customising an old Topshop jacket with earrings on each shoulder.

LFW Day 2: Osman

Location: Somerset House
Joanne Black style: Same as Mark Fast – just time for a shoe change into Margiela toe-less ankle boots.

Osman's all-white collection

The collection: For those of you who enjoyed the pale pieces from Osman’s last collection, his latest show was not to be missed. Osman’s Spring/Summer wardrobe brought chic European glamour to LFW. Inspired by a reportage photo of Mrs Simpson – who once wore a white dress to visit President Nixon – his all-white collection (with hints of gold) was pure and elegant, packed with sleek, sculptured pieces. Having teamed up with travel specialists Kuoni, Osman’s collection was designed to take us on a journey, and with use of North African and Japanese influences throughout, he did just that. Osman is one to watch for the future.

The wish list: It was so good, I wanted to walk away with the whole collection.
The style:My friend Yara – together with Katya Russian Editor of Shopping Guide – stood out from the fashionista crowd with their striking red outfits. I also loved actress Kemi David’s dress, which she designed herself. Who said the talent at LFW was just on the catwalk?

LFW Day 2: Mark Fast

Location: University of Westminster
Joanne Black style:
Martin Margiela A/W 09 dress; Sergio rossi S/S 09 edgy ankle sandals; Patrizia Pepe leather jacket A/W 08 and a Lanvin S/S 09 bag.
The collection:
Knitwear has never looked so good. This collection, themed around cinema (in particular the silent films of the 1920s) and inspired by Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich, focused on telling the story of courageous women in society. There was certainly something very powerful about his short sexy knit dresses – with Swarovski embellishments. I also love the way he teamed each of his dresses with Christian Louboutin shoes – which the designer had created especially for the show.
The wish list:
Fast’s figure-hugging black and white print dress with a fantastic geometric shape jutting out from the shoulder was fantastic.
The style:
I loved the fact it was 9.30am and girls were dressed up ready for a night on the town – in short dresses and sexy statement ankle boots. My highlight was spotting Christian Louboutin in the front row, fanning himself with a leaflet.

Vanity Fair’s On Time magazine launch

Location: Annabel’s night club London.
Joanne Black Style:
IWC Schaffhausen Chronograph automatic silver watch with black strap.

Joanne Black's IWC Schaffhausen Chronograph Automatic

This has to be the first event I have ever attended, where being fashionably late just wasn’t the done thing.
In many ways, Vanity Fair’s On Time magazine launch party was an event like no other. Never before have I set foot in Annabel’s nightclub at a time typically reserved for pre-dinner cocktails – and left before 8pm! Never before has clock watching at a party been actively encouraged. And never before have guests cared less about your choice of high-end fashion, and more about your choice of timepiece.
Transformed into an exclusive emporium of time, Annabel’s had everything from Cartier and Breitling to IWC and Asprey. When I wasn’t listening to host and editor Nick Foulkes discuss his love of time or sharing memories of my summer break in St Tropez with Arnaud Bamberger of Cartier, I was answering questions about my own watch – an IWC Schaffhausen Chronograph automatic. Designed for men, I was determined to show even the MD of IWC himself how a few masculine touches in women’s styling can be a very good thing. Why else are boyfriend jackets such a wardrobstaple?
